I worked for months, working 12- hours sanding floors, and tearing down wallpaper with one baby strapped to my back while the other babies were playing into the playpen. Ha! The house was getting closer to finishing, but it was still a long distance away. To furnish the home it would take a lot of effort both in budget and time. It was also going to be a challenge to go out and shop for my most-loved items. For my budget to remain sound, I travelled with my three boys in search for bargains at estate sales. It was a weekly tradition that we would stroll through estate sales and garage sales on Saturdays and Thursdays buying a mixture of old and new pieces. Then I would spend working on my projects out in the driveway. The furniture I found looked like... this is when my desire to repair furniture began. I continued to restore furniture, even after having completed the renovation of our home. Markets in town had room for me to sell pieces. Eventually, my collection grew so large that the room that I was living in was no longer adequate. My home became a place that I hosted open houses. Up 1000 people would be able to view the things on my first floor before purchasing these items. Growing Days was founded in my own home. My business was not only thriving but I was growing my sweet family too. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business and becoming a mother. Growing Days just fit. My beautiful Nora arrived in the year 2013, which was our fourth baby. Although I was happy with the direction my business was taking, I realized that I needed to take some time off. I got away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy more quality time with my family. This was precisely what I needed. Within a couple of months, the phone began to ring. People contacted me asking for help with the interior design and renovations of their home. Most of them came into my residence at my open house for furniture. As I went along, I added clients to my list one by one. However, it didn't take long before I managed many clients and operated an extremely successful business of home renovation. There is a good chance that I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my venture was going to be part of a forthcoming TV show on DIY Network. Actually I still kind of smile when I think about the idea.
